Travel Guide - New york

VIVA NEW YORK!

For our first travel guide, we head to The Big Apple! New York is the perfect city for a weekend getaway, whether with a partner, friends, or even a girls' trip. Since Montreal is relatively close to New York, you can decide to go almost anytime. However, summer can be a bit hot in the heart of Manhattan. It’s an ideal destination in the spring, as the temperature is perfect, and it seems like spring arrives a bit earlier. My daughter and I took the opportunity to celebrate Mother's Day while keeping an eye out for new spots to add to our little notebook. Here are our favorite addresses of the weekend.

P.S.: The photos were taken by my daughter, except for the one at Scarpetta restaurant.

Saturday - Head to Greenwich and Nolita

Leon’s Bagels

New York means shopping. We'll spend part of the day in the Nolita neighbourhood. While walking, we stop at Leon's Bagels. We're hungry and want to compare them with our Montreal bagels. It's good, quick, "Nothing Fancy" as they say, but perfect since we don't want to linger.
Shopping calls us.

L’appartement Sézane’S boutique

We love the concept. An apartment-style boutique that brings a bit of Paris everywhere. We stop here for inspiration, but it's hard to leave. We'd love to live here for a day... or two. But since the urge to buy everything hit us and we still had a few addresses to visit, we convinced ourselves it was better to leave.

Jelly Cat

JellyCat

My daughter is a huge fan of Jellycat plush toys. We take advantage of our wandering in the neighborhood to try and find some. It’s a great souvenir to bring back if you left the little ones at home 🧸.

AIMÉ LEON DORE

This fashion destination is a must for its clothing, and since we’re not the only ones who know the secret, there are often lines. In New York, some boutiques are very popular and lines form quickly.

Pro tip: make an online reservation for your spot in the boutique at your preferred time and extend your visit by grabbing a coffee at the café attached to the shop.

You have to eat well in NY

We joined a small group for dinner. We had reserved at Scarpetta, located not far from our hotel. Besides being hungry, we were excited because, although not an institution, Scarpetta is well-established and enjoys an excellent reputation since its nomination for the James Beard Award in the "Best New Restaurant in America" category. Just that.

Festive restaurant… diverse clientele of all ages. It’s a great way to end the day… festive yet friendly atmosphere. Good, friendly service. And the food is amazing. You can't go wrong :)

made hotel

There’s no shortage of hotels in New York. But it's not always easy to choose without blowing the budget. The price is reasonable, for New York ;-), and the boutique ambiance is present. The location is excellent. We highly recommend it.

SUNDAY - WE RELAX THE NY WAY

Le High Line

Starting from the Meatpacking District, the High Line is a must for a walk that lets you see the city differently. Elevated among greenery, this walk is a great way to capture unique views of New York. The perfect vibe for a stretching Sunday morning.

LITTLE ISLAND

If you go to New York from time to time, you've probably already walked the High Line. Nothing stops you from going again 😉 but maybe you haven’t seen LITTLE ISLAND. It’s another splendid urban park that opened in 2021 and offers a beautiful blend of urban culture and art. It’s a great stop before or after your High Line walk.
